Hurt Heart

I’m hurting, sad, and so uncomfortable with this new reality. I’m starting not to say as much to anyone because no one understands me like my sister did. It’s seems so much energy to talk to anyone with disclaimers because they don’t really know me. My sister was the most non-judgemental person on earth. It’s not getting easier I’m just getting used to being alone now. My life without my best friend and confidant is lonely and I’m sad inside my heart and in my face. Pray for my sister’s daughter, her only child, my niece. She is embarking on the scariest parts of her life without her soulmate, her mommy. She is sad, in a way none of us are. She laughs so hard and loud all day then comes in my room at 3 am with pitiful shoulders and foggy glasses. She thought she needed medicine but I started telling her stories about me and her moms childhood then we didn’t remember falling asleep. We woke up the next morning ok – but I’m exhausted. I’m still so sad. My eyes are tingling now to cry. I’m so sorry my sister is gone! I wear her clothes and burn her candles, it makes me feel good and bad. This hurts so bad, I’m still so sad. I wish I could get my heart fixed, I wish the middle of my face would stop stinging, I wish my heart would stop aching, I wish the pain wasn’t so loud, I wish I could run until the hurt falls off of me, I wish I could cry with Kesha, like we used to. I wish my mama didn’t have to be so heartbroken. I want to still be my sister’s sister. I’m hurting and tired of saying the word hurt because it’s not intense enough to explain how I feel. I don’t care anymore about so much but feel so much deeper about everything. Leave me alone! Help me! Don’t talk to me! Love me!!

De Saturated Beach

I feel compelled to speak on the imbalance of ethnic races, particularly people of African decent, that are on the beaches in America; on the westcoast especially. I am a Florida native who happened to have lived on a historically black beach for many years prior to moving to my current home in California. It’s worth noting how much freedom and unlimited access my family and I had to the wellness benefits that came along with living on such a beach. On that American Beach, we freely splashed in the water, frolicked along the seashore, beach-combed, picnic’d on the sand, and surf fished into the night. Several years and a cross country move later, the ocean summoned my family and I on a hot sunny day to it’s local pacific shores. It was only then that I began to notice that there was barely anyone, miles upon miles of coastline who looked like us so, those that didn’t look like us, just looked at us. The valley of blue eyes gazed at my family’s presence with awe as we desperately searched for social distance on a absurdly cluttered seashore. Me, a person who celebrates diversity, who was raised to not see in color, and never subscribe to pulling the race card when convenient; For the first time I felt like a specimen, even a species of endangerment. It was as if I had the most colorful fan of butt feathers, like my children were covered in exquisite zebra stripes, and their father: my husband… his very presence with the fruits of his loins and the woman who bared them was to our fair skin spectators the 9th world wonder and a rare sighting. Only things missing were cages and for them to have purchased over priced tickets to see us. Uncomfortable and unequal is an understatement. Fortunately, due to my rich internal life and improvising mental palette I was able to create psychological barriers to block out this type of energy. Therefore, I grappled within myself a way to still enjoy this spa date we had with the ocean. Unfortunately, my family was not as equipped to auto tune the flat out discomfort of this shoreline inequality. It affected them more than they would have me know in service of protecting my solace. My inability to ignore this uncomfortable, confederate flavored reality of modern beach culture moved me to delve into the reasons, the why’s, and why nots. Effortlessly I quickly unearthed facts that there is a negative, even painful history of blacks and American beaches. Rather it was rooted in slave activity or segregation, the history was nevertheless defunct and unfair. I have a new found in depth love and respect for those designated Black American beaches that were set in place throughout our nation to assure that African Americans also had a share in the goodness that a family beach day brought to the soul. Today only one of those beaches still exists… the beach that I used to live on. The beach that taught me that it’s therapy was designed to heal us all. This past century was loitered with blacks in America being denied the very natural experiences with creation that don’t belong to any human to give or take away from another. Those historical and other intricate factors great fully contributed to people of color not wanting to or having much the option to take part in outdoor recreation as much as other racial groups feel so freely and even entitled to. I am politically neutral so my angle is far less that, but equality from a divine standpoint is my curve in the matter. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it, right is right even if no one is doing it. Black people, God created the earth’s coastline for you too. So, rise up! Go therefore and get wet, surf, fish, sun bathe, coastal forage, and shell collect! Raise your offspring erasing the narrative for centuries to come that people of color don’t/can’t go to the beach or enjoy any other outdoor recreation that the Creator put in place for all humanity to recharge from. Then snap and share those coastal selfies, post those outdoor adventures via social media and on other internet platforms. Show and prove that the resourceful gifts that outdoor living and beach trekking offers are generously given to those who look like you too. ALL children need to see that. Then a beautiful minded child grows up morally sound, with love and racial equality at the core of who they are – and the beach culture changes. Cum Laude; The world changes.

I want a little baking nook; Separate from the main kitchen.

I wonder, does this type of thing exist? A baking nook? Pinterest has failed to give me that definite answer. At any rate I’ve been diligently dreaming of a sweet little separate baking kitchen in my house, when I get a house, that feels like Yumeiro Patisserie was sipping tea with Anne Shirley and Diana Barry in a little shabby chic macaroon shop on Prince Edward Island. The air will be filled with warm sweet smells of pies, moist cakes, fluffy biscuits, danishes, donuts, chewy cookies, and buttery funnel cakes to say the least. Mmm, what a delicious dream I’m always having… that explains my frequent sudden cravings for all things baked and sweet. My love for high quality cake and baked goods originated with none other than the finest bakery in my hometown of Florida: Publix Bakery. If you don’t know, now you know 🤙🏽🙌🏽. Until I get my baking nook, I must continue displaying to my family why I’m so deserving of one… so, I bake.

Laundre’ {LAUNDROMAT + CAFE}

Now here’s a lovely spot called Laundre’ in The Mission-district of San Francisco, California. It is LITERALLY a laundromat and a Cafe combined. You are not obligated to use both areas in order to experience this place, you can use either the laundry area or the cafe or both. There’s strong wi-fi, couches, and other fluffy seating along with the modern wood furniture in the bistro bar dining areas. I was honestly drawn to this modern Internet cafe simply because of the large blown glass vase filled with water and two short bristled pine tree branches(pictured below)on the counter. My infinity of getting home decor ideas and inspirations from quirky establishments throughout the city ultimately led me into this multi-purpose space that replenishes your appetite, coffee binges, internet presence, and your quantity of clean clothing. I enjoyed a nice breakfast with my teenage daughter who I knew could use a bite of food as well as a taste of my exclusive attention and time. I felt so chill and relaxed while eating there. We munched and appreciated the city-scape, that is, until we caught view of a substance abuser twerking for her equally stoned beau at a bus stop across the street from our new brunch bar; That disturbing entertainment is likely to affect our psyche’s for weeks yet, was not enough at the moment to affect our appetites lol. If you want to wash your clothes and sip on an espresso, or surf the net while enjoying a Lox Bagel, Laundre’ is the place for you! And they have a wall of original local artwork as well as a little wooden bleacher stand with an assorted selection of beautiful house plants that you can buy. What a cool venue to be yourself in.

I have been living in the Bay Area for half a decade and am ashamed to admit how inexperienced I am with the cuisine and super rad spots like the Laundre’ that saturate the region I now call home… that soon will change. I’ve vowed to myself to become versed with the best of the bay so, stay tuned for more.

Nohing taste better than healthy feels. Yet, plant based food tastes phenomenal. You don’t need to compromise flavor and taste. It’s all about eating guilt free. Eating until you’re satisfied, not full. It’s been a long time coming and I’m thankful to have been alive to be able to make a lifestyle change that changed my life. No judgement of those who choose to include meat and dairy in their diet. It’s all about doing what works best for you. Doing better than what you were doing. Even my daddy who is the poster boy for artery clogging southern comfort foods now uses vegan butter on the rice he smothers with chitterlings and hog maws. (Feel free to google that). I just decided to stop masquerading around as a carnivore when I have no fangs, claws, nor a digestive system with short enough intestines to keep animal flesh from putrefying for months (even years) along side my vital organs. Knowledge is life’s currency. Educate yourselves on putting the proper fuel in your body’s engine and it will run well for a very long time. In the infamous words of my daddy, “ I done ate everything but a boot and i’m working on that!” I suppose if he decided to not eat boots he’d live long pass the 70 years he’s already been with our family, and we’d all appreciate that💜🌹. Thank you for the moment. 🌱

and as a person who bares the “curse” of gab I must admit my feelings were hurt. The truth hurts. I do suffer from anxiety and many other insecurities and emotional issues hence, the probable nucleus of my word deluges. In anguish I excepted the truth oozing from those articles as the points made were very valid, not well taken, but valid. Tears fell effortlessly from my eyes as I read: An open letter to people who talk too much, but they dried up by the end of: More talk about talking too much. As my emotions shifted into survival mode I developed a defensiveness to the hypocrisy. Writing is speaking/talking as well. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, when a non talkative verbally reserved person writes, their wind is just as long as us chatterboxes Ms. Dembling felt the need to publicly bash in her articles. Despite the author’s claim of being a woman who is as silent as the grave, via writing she spoke a river of endless words and her feelings were made very clear long before her points became an over murder in article #2. So is it really that quiet people are not excessive talkers… or is it that they lack the emotional courage and intellectual organization needed to verbalize their deepest truths and feelings as instantaneously and efficiently as those self indulgent over talking evil people. Or maybe they just don’t care about conversing deeply in general. Do-ers rather than talk-ers; I’ll drink to that”! Ahh, the irony that anything one has to say is always too much when you don’t like what’s being said.

As a member of the talkers union I feel compelled to further explain our plight. Once we’ve been branded as having mouths that spew too many words, we are sadly vilified for opening our mouths for anything other than eating. If we’re asked a question and answer it thoroughly, we’re talking too much. If we decide to express our feelings instead of holding them in and developing emotional and social issues, we’re talking too much. If we are very knowledgeable on a subject and share the gems of that knowledge, we’re talking too much. If you have the audacity to embellish what might otherwise be a bland story or give details while giving directions, we’re talking too much. For my sanity I like to think verbal content marks the difference between talking too much and having a lot to say.

But, what is for certain is that talking less and listening more will reward you more genuine lasting relationships, which explains the very few I have. It’s also more beneficial to your social and emotional health. In fact our very human design supports this with us having two ears and one mouth. With that being said, this will now and forever become a big part of my life’s work, to speak less, a lot less,
and always listen. Not so much to gain likeableness but as to not trap others in the agony of my word storms. Thankfully I have a very rich internal life that affords me to live vibrantly within the realms of my inner self, while I eternally refrain from plaguing others with the motors of my mouth.

When your life is low.

Hold your head high, don’t dress/groom yourself to look how bad you feel, treat people with love and respect even though you are sad, when you catch eyes with someone fake a smile or give a real wince, start a week long inner prayer, watch a good movie, eat your favorite food, put clean sheets and pillow cases on your bed, don’t give in to having that nervous breakdown we all deserve, verbally purge your ugly faults and mistakes in your extended prayer while taking a steaming hot shower, have a good cry(even if you’re a male), get out of the shower, dry off, put on the most comfortable soft pajamas you own, or go green (nude), get in your bed and cover up to your neck, think hard about the person(s) you love the most in the world and why you love them, that may slip you into a continuation of your extended prayer, which in turn may irritate your tear ducts, just let them fall, and fall, and fall asleep. Repeat as needed or until you’re alive again.

The Village of Living Water in Harie, Japan

Japan always seems to get it right. Harie is a peaceful village in Japan that has a constant flow of natural spring water, that through a unique system is supplied to every home there. They use a brilliant system called “Kabata” where every home’s flow of spring water is used to keep their freshly picked fruits and vegetables fresh. They also clean their dishes in the overflow of spring water which serves as a feeding for some very special kitchen helpers, large koi carp. All of the kitchen scraps that are put into the water for the koi is safe for them to eat and equivalent to their natural diet. Basically 100% plant based, never any meat or dairy products. Says a lot about the staple diet of Japanese people. The spring water Kabata pond waters where the koi live flows back into the main stream that flows through the entire village and back into the lake and streams that irrigate and naturally fertilize the village’s crops. An enormous natural Aquaponics system!! It’s such a beautiful arrangement. This proves that the idea of a peaceful everlasting life in pristine health on a paradise earth is very real, very possible, very desirable. My first trip to Japan is planned for next year, so be prepared for my blog to be saturated with everything Japanese while I’m there.
